Creating Categories & Moving Items to Categories

It may be helpful for both you and your students to arrange the assignments in your gradebook into categories. If you created categories and weights for your course grade calculation, you will need to establish categories to set up your gradebook properly. If you use the “points methods” (or “natural” aggregation method in Moodle), categories may make the gradebook easier to understand.

To set up categories, from your course main page, go to Administration > Gradebook setup. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Add category. For full step-by-step instructions, see the Moodle documentation page here.
