Christie Connolly is the Assistant Professor of Theatre at Campbellsville University. She has a BA in Theatre Arts from Birmingham-Southern College and an MFA in Performance & Pedagogy from Texas Tech University. Before joining Campbellsville University Theatre she was the Program Director and Assistant Professor of Theatre at Union College in Barbourville, KY. She designed and taught the theatre minor curriculum which included courses in Theatre for Social Change, Directing & Devising, and Voice & Movement. She directed the World Premiere of the online play Time Zones Apart by Eric Eidson & Lauren Lynch, which was nationally recognized by the Kennedy Center for American College Theatre Festival. Her research explores the intersection of theatre and social change through personal storytelling with systematically marginalized communities. She was Artistic Director for the BurkTech Players, a theatre company with adults on the autism spectrum, performed in the original cast of the touring devised production Remember This: A Participatory Performance Experience that studies audience attitudes towards dementia, and served as artist-in-residency at Playback Nigeria in Abuja, Nigeria, where she co-facilitated the country’s first Children’s Theatre Festival. Christie currently serves on the Kentucky Theatre Association Board and chairs the Applied Theatre division for the Southeastern Theatre Conference.
