Azucena Trejo Williams is an interdisciplinary artist working in installation, photography, video and sound. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in Photojournalism, Post-Bac coursework in art and art education from Campbellsville University, and M.F.A. in Studio Art at Maryland Institute College of Art. Trejo Williams’ experience in photography spans over 20 years including a career as a photojournalist and a photo editor in various national newspapers. Trejo Williams taught at the Dallas Museum of Art, Beijing University of Agriculture, and is currently an Associate Professor in Art & Design at Campbellsville University. She has presented in The Arts in Society’s 9th International Conference on a collaborative project called “Sound of Music” based on a system to derive sound from a photograph, William Peace University Interdisciplinary Conference on the “Evolution of Post-Mortem Photography from Victorian to the Contemporary” and SECAC on “Collaborative Problem Solving in the Contemporary Classroom” for “The Next Ten Years: Preparing Students for the Students of 2030” panel. She co-authored “Pegasi and Beethoven: Sights and Sounds in Disney’s Fantasia,” in Mythological Equines in Film through Vernon Publication (Summer 2022). Trejo Williams continues to exhibit her artwork nationally in both solo and group exhibitions. She is currently exhibiting an installation in “Our Kentucky Home: Hispanic/Latin American Visual Art in the Commonwealth” , a traveling exhibition, with the KY Arts Council in partnership with alDía en América and Casa de la Cultura Kentucky.
