CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Inner Mongolian musician Tamier will present a concert Monday, March 23 at Campbellsville University at 8 p.m. at The Gheens Recital Hall at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville.

The program will be traditional Mongolian music performed by Tamier, assisted by Dr. K.-H. Han from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music, said Tamier is an accomplished performer of Khoomei (throat singing) and the Dombra (a two-stringed fiddle).  Tamier is studying English at the University of Kentucky. He is a graduate of Inner Mongolia University Arts College with a music major.

Tamier has participated in competitions for Khoomei singing in Mongolia, China and Russia, and has received prizes in each.  Khoomei singers are legendary for their ability to sing two pitches simultaneously, Roberts said.
Tamier has given lectures, workshops and performances in China, Mongolia and the United States, and is leader of Zamq, Zamq, a traditional music band.  His accomplishments have won him much respect for his musical skill in traditional Mongolian styles, Roberts said.

The concert is free and open to the public.
