NAFSA International Conference to be held at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University is partnering with NAFSA: Association of International Educators to hold an International Education Conference June 26-28 in The Gheens Recital Hall located on Campbellsville University's campus at 210 University Drive, Campbellsville.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators is the world's largest non-profit dedicated to the international education and exchange. The organization was founded to help with assisting and advising international students in United States universities and colleges across the country. The organization soon grew to a large scale and has more than 10,000 members worldwide.

Campbellsville University, with an enrollment of more than 5,000 students, has an international population of about 1,500 students, over one fifth of the student population. They are from 50 countries.

Coordinators for the conference are Patrick Barker, International Studies Abroad, and Elaine Tan, Center for International Education at Campbellsville University.

The NAFSA meeting is June 26 when “International Education from Kentucky Perspective” will be discussed. The Campbellsville University International Education

Conference sessions on June 27 will cover “International Education from U.S. Perspective” and on June 28 the topic will be “International Education from Global Perspective.”

Four sessions, along with keynote addresses, will be held each of the three days, and they will be presented by representatives from NAFSA, Georgia College, Campbellsville University and University of Ibadan, Nigeria; Exela Education, India, and CityGate, Nigeria.

There will be a variety of topics covered during the conference sessions such as adaptation and change in international business and international relations, cultural-conflict and cross-cultural adaptability and international talent exchange and integrating industry demand into relevant higher education programs.

Cross-cultural competencies and faculty enrichment in international education and traditional and non-traditional skills for industries in international cultural contexts both in “For Profit” sector and in “Not for Profit” sector will also be popular topics covered at the conference.
