CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University's online theology master's degree program has been ranked eighth in the nation by TheBestSchools.org.

“The School of Theology's programs are at the heart of what we seek to do at CU in providing academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment,” Dr. John Chowning, vice president of church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, said.

“This recognition of our online graduate theology program reflects that commitment to excellence and providing our students with life-changing academic training - whether in the traditional classroom setting, online or in a blended format.”

Other institutions on the list include: University of Dallas School of Ministry, Calvin Theological Seminary, Saint Leo Online, Fuller Theological Seminary and others.

“For Campbellsville University to be recognized with the likes of Liberty Online (the largest seminary in the world), sister SBC institutions (Southwestern and Golden Gate seminaries), as well as other great evangelical and Roman Catholic institutions puts us in great company,” Dr. John Hurtgen, dean of the School of Theology, said.
The website ranked institutions based on academic quality, program quality, university's reputation, courses offered, awards, rankings, faculty strength and reputation for providing online programs.

“We have a team of scholar practitioners that is second to none,” Hurtgen said. “‘Producing world changers for Christ' is our goal, and the master of theology has enabled us to invest in the lives of Christian ministers who are serving Christ and God's kingdom across the United States,” Hurtgen said.

The 30 credit-hour program of graduate theological and ministerial training provides an 18-hour emphasis in one of three areas (pastoral leadership, biblical studies and theological studies) and then completes the final 12 hours by taking six hours in each of the two remaining areas of study.

“Campbellsville University remains committed to preparing Christian servant leaders in all of our academic areas,” Chowning said. “This rating is important external recognition of CU's efforts to make the online educational experience one of quality and one in which the CU experience is very much evident.”

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,600 students offering 63 undergraduate options, 17 master's degrees, five postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
