CU’s Dr. Wesley Roberts to give faculty organ recital March 24

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at Campbellsville University, will host a faculty organ recital March 24 in Ransdell Chapel at 8 p.m. Selections by Arthur Foote, J.S. Bach, Jacques Ibert, Léon Boellmann, Gustav Holst, and Denis Bedard will be included.

Roberts has been a professor at the university since 1982. He teaches courses in piano, organ, and musicology. Roberts has led concerts as pianist and organist across the United States and in Europe and Asia. He was a guest speaker at the 2002 Conference of the Music Teachers National Association held in Cincinnati where he spoke about methods for pianists turned organists.

Roberts is the author of articles and reviews in British, Dutch, and American journals. In addition, Roberts was co-author of Maurice Hinson in The Piano in Chamber Ensemble, 2nd Edition, in 2006. More recently, Roberts joined Hinson as co-author in Guide to the Pianist's Repertoire, 4th Edition, in 2014.

He has served as a visiting professor at the French Piano Institute in Paris and at Shanghai Normal University, and as organist at Calvin Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church for almost a decade.

Roberts has organized concert tours across the U.S. and multiple countries around the world. He served as president of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association. Roberts awards include, 2005 Distinguished Service Award, 2012 Distinguished Teaching Award, and 2013 Campbellsville University Distinguished Professor Award.
