CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Elizabeth Styffe, director of the HIV/AIDS and Orphan Care Initiative for Saddleback Church in California, will speak at chapel Wednesday, Oct. 29 and at a night service, both addresses speaking about National Adoption Month.

The chapel service is at 10 a.m. Oct. 29 in Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville. She will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 on “God's Heart for Orphans” for a National Adoption Month Kickoff Worship Service at Ransdell Chapel also.

Everyone is invited to both services.

Styfee, as an outreach of her work for Saddleback Church, an evangelical Christian megachurch, helps churches adapt to care for orphans, in hopes of ending the orphan crisis.

Styffe believes that every believer can do something - even the right thing - for children all over the world because every child deserves a family of their own.

She said when the church is mobilized, children remain in loving, safe, secure, nurturing families, re-unite or regain a family of their own through adoption.

Styffe has a master's degree in nursing and has served as a pediatric nurse and has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, was a professional harpist, and co-founded the HIV/AIDs Initiative at Saddleback Church, Calif.

After traveling to Thailand, Cambodia, Malawi, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda in her work as an AIDS advocate, Styffe began to think what she could for the 163 million orphaned boys and girls in the world.

She and her husband, Glenn, prayed about adopting at least one of the children she encountered in Rwanda. They decided to adopt three older children from an orphanage in Kigali, Rwanda, who joined four of the Styffe's other children.

In addition to her seven children, she has two grandsons.

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.

All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10).
