CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Put on your running shoes and head out for the Campbellsville University Homecoming 5K Run/Walk, which begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Powell Athletic Center, 203 Tiger Way, Campbellsville.

Those interested in participating in the 5K are encouraged to register online, but walk ups are allowed. On- site registration and packet pick up is 7-8 a.m. at the Powell Athletic Center.

The race will start and end at the Powell Athletic Center. Both in-person and virtual options are available for this year's Homecoming 5K.

Cost to participate in the in-person 5K is $20, cost to participate in the virtual 5K is $15, and cost to participate in the virtual one-mile run/walk is $15. Campbellsville University students receive free entry with a valid ID.

All proceeds and donations will support Campbellsville University Athletics.

Doing the 5K virtually means you can run or walk the 5K from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.

Results must be submitted by 11:59 p.m., Oct. 9.

For the in-person 5K, awards will be given to the overall male and female winners as well as top male and female in each age group. All in-person participants will have their name placed in a raffle drawing. You must be present to win.

New to the Homecoming 5K is the inaugural Team Challenge: Alumni vs. Students vs. Supporters. Runners will be categorized as either an alumni, supporter or student, and each runner's place will be converted into a score.

The category with the lowest score will win.

A first-place finisher would receive one point, second place would get two points and so forth. Only the top five runners will score points for their respective category.

The Team Challenge is for in-person runners only.
