CAMPBELLSVILLE,
Ky. - Almost five months after ground was broken on the new wrestling facility, the construction is nearing an end. One of the final steps in completing the state-of-the-arc facility is a prayer walk that will be taking place to kickoff Homecoming week on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m.

Campbellsville University is continuing the tradition that has been in place for all new buildings. The prayer walk is open to the community, alumni, administration, students, athletes, coaches, faculty and staff. Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to write scripture verses on the walls before the wrestling mats are installed.

“We have been blessed with a beautiful new facility for our wrestling teams to use and we feel that allowing the campus to speak a blessing over the building and our wrestling teams is very important,” said director of athletics Rusty Hollingsworth.

“We want the use of this facility to glorify God so that those who enter the facility will experience Christ.”

Once the facility is 100 percent complete and ready for the wrestling teams to move in, a ribbon cutting and dedication of the building will take place. That date will be announced later in October. Students will lead the ceremony. Drew O'Neal is leading the music portion, Meg Brown, Leighton Lavey and Matt Milton will also be reading scripture.

Men's wrestling coach Franky James will also represent both the men's and women's teams as the Lady Tigers will be competing in the Patriot Open in Williamsburg, Ky.

“We are asking for God's blessings on all who will use this facility and any and all events/activities that are held in this beautiful new facility,” said assistant director of athletics Jim Hardy.

Those in attendance for the prayer walk will be president Dr. Michael Carter and other vice presidents and administration.

“We want to welcome everyone to come and participate in the prayer walk,” said Carter. “This is a way for all of us who believe in the power of prayer to know the intent of athletics, and wrestling in particular, is ‘More Than a Game' at Campbellsville University. We are deeply appreciative of the donor family and others who have helped make this new facility a reality for both our men's and women's wrestling programs.”
