CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Dr. Wayne Barnard, director of student ministries for the International Justice Mission, will be speaking at Campbellsville University's Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) event Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m., in the Banquet Hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center, located on the campus of Campbellsville University at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville.

Barnard will also speak at chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. in the Ransdell Chapel, located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville. Barnard will speak on human rights issues from the Biblical perspective.

Barnard earned his bachelors of arts degree in theology from Abilene Christian University, a master of arts degree in marriage and family therapy from St. Mary's University, and a Ph.D. in family studies with a concentration in lifespan human development and college student development from Texas Women's University.

John Chowning, founder of KHIPP who serves as vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, said KHIPP focuses its attention on “facilitating public policy study and issues debate, while encouraging the involvement of Christian leaders in the public and civic arenas.”

Chowning said, “The International Justice Mission is an organization whose mission is very important in the world today. Working in a number of countries around the globe, IJM focuses attention on issues such as human trafficking, slavery, etc. These issues have been ignored in the 21st century until groups, such as IJM and others, began to work and educate the public. However, IJM does more than just discuss and educate - they are also literally working around the world in rescuing the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice where possible. Campbellsville University now has a IJM Club that was formed a year ago following Wayne Barnard's first visit to campus a couple of years ago. It's rewarding to see our students focusing attention and raising awareness on these issues as well as raising funds to help in the rescue efforts of IJM. This will be an informative, provocative and important presentation.”

He said KHIPP is committed to preparing Christian civic and political leaders for the 21st century.

“KHIPP invites you, the concerned citizen and student of the American political process, to attend one or more events to be presented this fall on the campus of Campbellsville University,” he said.

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.

All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10).
