CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University senior, Sarah Sprague of Randolph, Vt., will display her artwork in her senior show March 4-13 in the Art Gallery across from the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

Sprague will display work including black and white and color photography, hand colored collage, pen and ink drawings, paintings and sculpture.  She is scheduled to graduate in December with an area in art.

She said her artistic manner focuses not only on one medium, style or technique, but on many. “I find inspiration in many different things and embrace ideas as they come to me.”

“I've never been asked to sit down and explain who I am, what my art represents, and how I've gotten to this point in my artistic journey,” Sprague said.  “As I try and elaborate on these things now I feel lost, as I have only got where I am today simply by letting God take me.  I am where I am just because I am.  This is my work, this is my life, and this is my story.”

Sprague said, “I grew up as the only child at home leaving me with plenty of time to doodle, sketch and think of different ways I could be creative - all of which often took place on my bedroom walls.”

“I find inspiration in many different things and embrace ideas as they come to me,” she said.  “As I explore different means of art as an artist, I do in fact have, but do not strictly abide by, my favorites - some of which include, photography, collage, organic and geometric design and acrylic paint.”

Sprague also said, “I feel blessed to be where I am today with having many opportunities to seize my passion for art.  I look forward to where God will take me next and I thank Him now for yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

Sprague is a 2005 graduate of Mid Vermont Christian School.

She said she has always had a love of art but didn't fully embrace her art until her later years in high school. Her mother is also artistic.

She has entered the 2006, 2007 and 2008 juried shows at CU. She won second place in the 2008 Kentucky State Fair for a collage “Antique Love,” a piece she made for her mother.

She was guest artist for Kenzie Rice's Senior Show in December 2008.

She is the daughter of Marilyn Sprague of Lampe, Mo. She attends Baptist Fellowship Church in Randolph, Vt.
