CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University enjoyed a record enrollment for 2009 summer school classes, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of CU.

A total of 610 students attended classes during a number of terms this summer, which is an increase of 58 students over last year's total of 552.

These students completed nearly 3,000 credit hours throughout the summer months.

Dave Walters, vice president for admissions and student services, said, “Our summer school experience is designed to give not only our current students more options, but also provides the opportunity for students from other institutions that are home in Campbellsville during the summer.”

“We strive to deliver the classes needed by students to help them ‘get ahead' or stay on pace for their graduation date,” Walters said.

“Campbellsville University also discounts the summer school program to an amazingly low cost of $275 per credit hour. This is nearly one third the normal hourly rate, which provides a significant savings to students in this unpredictable economy.

“Taking summer classes also helps to reduce the course load sometimes needed in the fall and spring semesters,” he said.

“Campbellsville University continues to find ways to help every student reach his or her higher education aspirations,” Walters said. “The summer school program is another way students can receive an affordable and quality education package.”

Dr. Frank Cheatham, vice president for academic affairs, said, “I appreciate our faculty giving of their time to make the summer courses available for students. It's exciting to have a strong summer enrollment.”

“I believe students understand the great value they get by taking summer school classes,” Cheatham said.
