Campbellsville University’s Williams to present ‘Ethics in Contemporary Art’ lecture

Azucena (Susie) Trejo Williams, assistant professor of art &design at Campbellsville University, will present a QEP lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Azucena (Susie) Trejo Williams, assistant professor of art & design at Campbellsville University, will present a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) lecture in the Banquet Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 on “Ethics in Contemporary Art.”

Information will be presented in categories with case studies highlighting artwork for students to consider materials, concepts, cultural context, collecting and art making in their contemporary art.

Everyone is invited to attend the free event.

Trejo Williams has been a faculty member at Campbellsville University since 2015 and serves on the Patrons of the Visual Arts Board at Campbellsville University. She is an interdisciplinary artist working in installation, photography, video and sound, and has served as a docent at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Ky. since 2016.

She was awarded the Faculty Servant Leadership Award in 2017. The Servant Leadership Award is given by Campbellsville University to a faculty member and to a staff member annually during Honors and Awards Day. The award recipient is someone who consistently demonstrates a servant's heart of leadership on campus and the greater community.

In December 2017, Trejo Williams created an ornament that was display on the Kentucky State Senate Christmas Tree. The ornament, which she named “Traditions,” noted areas in the heart of Taylor County that were decorated for the Christmas season.

Trejo Williams received a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism from the University of North Texas in 2004. She also earned her Master of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2016. She has also done post-baccalaurate coursework in art and art education at Campbellsville University.

Trejo Williams is married to Dr. Shawn Williams, associate professor of political science at Campbellsville University.

The QEP is a part of Campbellsville University's Southern association of Colleges and Schools requirement. Its complete title is “Find Your Compass: Developing a Basis for Ethical Decision Making.”
