CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - Campbellsville Christian Church gifted Campbellsville University with seats for the Russ Mobley Theater recently when 23 members of Campbellsville Christian Church and faculty/staff of the university came together to dedicate the chairs in a time of worship and prayer.

After reading a passage from Joshua 4, Rodney Booe, lead pastor of Campbellsville Christian Church, asked the congregation, “What's so special about stones? They represent a story that the Israelites would one day tell their children. Just like the stones these chairs have meaning from the stories they tell.”

The seats that are now placed in the Russ Mobley Theater were first placed in Campbellsville Christian Church about 60 years ago. Late last fall both Campbellsville University and Campbellsville Christian Church began looking for new seats to be placed in their buildings. The university needed 300 seats and that is the exact amount that Campbellsville Christian Church was looking to donate.

“You could see God at work in the way things worked out. We are thrilled to bless Campbellsville University and the lives that the chairs will touch,” Booe said.

“It is miraculous how God made everything work together. It symbolizes the connection between the university and the churches in the community. It was a perfect fit,” Otto Tennant, vice president for administration and finance, said.

Otto presented Booe with a plaque as a thank you for the donation. There is a matching plaque in the lobby of the Russ Mobley Theater.

“These chairs represent many hours of worshipping God. Many spiritual decisions have been made and witnessed from these seats. It is our prayer during this time of dedication that God will continue to use these chairs in His redemptive plan of drawing people to His love,” Dr. G. Ted Taylor said.

Taylor closed the service with members holding hands and thanking God for this partnership in the gospel with Campbellsville Christian Church and Campbellsville University.
