CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University will present a lecture on “Ethical Decision-Making in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” Monday, Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Badgett Academic Support Center (BASC) Banquet Hall, 110 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

Everyone is invited to the free lecture.

Dr. Thomas R. Jeffrey, associate professor of business, and an interdisciplinary panel of faculty including Dr. Carey Ruiz, assistant professor of sociology; Dr. Shawn Williams, lead/associate professor of political science; and Dr. Vincent Scovetta, associate professor of computer science, will present.

Through collaborative and interactive activities, the lecture will cover the navigation of ethical processes in the development of artificial intelligence such as autonomous cars, weaponized drones and more.

Light refreshments will be served at the free event that is open to the public.

Jeffrey has been a faculty member of Campbellsville University since 2009. He graduated from Groveton High School in 1984, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business from Sam Houston State University in 1988, his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2006, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2009.

Ruiz has taught at Campbellsville University since 2016. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Kentucky University in 1994, as well her Master of Arts in Sociology in 1999. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Kentucky in 2012.

Williams has been a faculty member at Campbellsville University since 2010. He graduated from Valley View High School in 1993, received his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Lees McRae College in 1996, his Master of Arts of International Studies from Angelo State University in 1999, and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2009.

Scovetta graduated from the Thomas A. Edison High school in 1968. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the St. John's University, his Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Long Island University, and his Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems from the Nova Southeastern University in 2012.
