CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University's Theater Department will be hosting two summer theater camps June 18-22 and June 25-29 in the Russ Mobley Theater, located in the Alumni Building at 114 University Drive, Campbellsville.

The camp June 18-22 is called “Spur of the Moment” and is an improv workshop for children ages 5-8 and ages 9-12.

The other camp, June 25-29, is for ages 12-18 and those in sixth to 12th grade, is titled “15 Reasons Not to Put on a Play.”

The cost is $75 per child, per camp. Multiple child and multiple child discounts are available. The cost includes T-shirt and performance for family and friends on the last day of camp.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. is for ages 5-8 for the June 18-12 camp, and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. is for those aged 9-12.

The second camp is from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 25-29 and is for ages 12-18.

The Improv Workshop is designed to allow actors to think outside the box and be quick on their feet on stage.

Starr Garrett, director of the theater, said, “You'll gain the skills needed to make the crowd roar!”

The second camp is for those who want to “have fun putting on a play about not being in a play while learning acting techniques through a hilarious series of monologues, duets and ensemble scenes,” Garrett said.

“From early traumas involving a glory-seeking elementary school teacher to possible disturbances in the global climate, ‘15 Reasons Not To Be in a Play,' keeps the audience guessing just what scenario will be next,” she said.

Garrett said, “The camps will help students improve their self confidence and help them be more expressive on stage. All interested students are urged to attend. We'll have fun and learn a lot!”
