CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University alumna Christina Ann Smith will be the featured artist in “Handmade in the Everyday,” a fiber exhibition, in Campbellsville University's The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky., through Oct. 7.

Smith has been working with fiber and yarn artwork for over 15 years and specializes in crochet. She graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Christian missions from Campbellsville University.

On her website, Smith said: “I enjoy creating modern crochet pieces that take a craft that is sometimes given less respect than other fiber arts and elevating it to the level it deserves.”

Smith started Christina Ann Studios in 2016 as a way of intersecting her love for crochet with her love for the home.

From her artist website, Smith said: “I enjoy creating cozy home goods to help cultivate an inviting atmosphere for family members and friends through the warmth and comfort of yarn.”

Smith opened “Daybreak: A Handmade Collective,” a brick-and-mortar store in downtown Campbellsville  July 1, that carries artworks from over 30 handmade and local makers.

Smith said, “I have always had a deep desire to create. It has always been a part of who I am.”

Smith said on her website, “My specialty in the yarn crafts is crochet. I enjoy creating modern crochet pieces that take a craft that is sometimes given less respect than other fiber arts and elevating it to the level it deserves.”

Smith said she also commonly enjoys “creating cozy home goods to help cultivate an inviting atmosphere for family members and friends through the warmth and comfort of yarn.”
