CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.— Campbellsville University will host Ben Lowe, director of young adult ministries with the Evangelical Environment Network, in the YECA (Young Evangelicals for Climate Action) speaking tour Tuesday and Wednesday, March 19 and 20 at Campbellsville University.

Lowe will present a forum on earth stewardship Tuesday, March 19 at 5 p.m. in CU's Banquet Hall of the Badgett Academic Support Center, located at 110 University Drive, Campbellsville. The forum is hosted by Campbellsville University's KHIPP (Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy).

Lowe will also speak in CU's weekly chapel service Wednesday, March 20 at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel, located on the CU campus at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.

Both events are free and open to the public.

Lowe is an advocate for the development of greens jobs combining economy and the environment. Along with that, he is the Board Chair of the Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies.

He earned his environmental studies degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., where he aided in organizing Wheaton's National Climate Change Summit in 2007.

As a child of missionaries in Southeast Asia, he encountered water shortages and bad air qualities, which were linked to mismanagement and natural resources abuse.

Now, Lowe resides in a community of refugees and immigrants outside of Chicago. In 2010, Lowe ran for U.S. Congress of the Chicago area. Lowe said, he is a part of this community intentionally.

Lowe is the author of, “Green Revolution: Coming Together to Care for Creation,” published in 2009 by InterVarsity Press. He is also a contributing writer for relevantmagazine.com and PRISMMagazine.org.

John Chowning, founder of KHIPP and vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president of CU, said, “Ben Lowe is a very fine speaker with a message that is timely and important. His passion for the subject and ability to capture the attention of his audience, make him very effective and able to communicate to others.”

Dr. Paul W. Robinson, professor at Wheaton College and President of Congo Initiative-USA, said, “Ben is a remarkable young leader, activist and communicator, who is deeply thoughtful, conversant and passionate about the critical issues facing our world. His life and lifestyle are authentic, fully congruent with his words and faith. Insightfully and with clarity, Ben challenges us to live in ways that steward the environment with which we have been gifted and respect our neighbors near and far.”

Chowning said KHIPP events focus its attention on “facilitating public policy study and issue debate, while encouraging the involvement of Christian leaders in the public and civic arenas.”

He said KHIPP is committed to preparing the Christian civic and political leaders for the 21st century.

Chapel is designed to provide opportunities for corporate worship and exposure through a variety of informative speakers and presentations.

All chapels are open to the public free of charge and are televised live on WLCU (Comcast Cable channel 10).

Chapel credit is available for Campbellsville University students for each event.
